Measles outbreak on the rise

On the second day, the number of booster doses increased to 3,208 and the number of first dose was 109. At the same time, on the third day, the number of children who took booster dose increased to 3,064 and the number of children who took the first dose was 55. Actually, the number of children suffering from measles has increased to 386 in Mumbai. At the same time, the number of suspected patients has been reported 4,508. 111 children are hospitalized in Mumbai, out of which 25 are on oxygen support, 5 in ICU and 2 on ventilator. According to statistics, today (December 4) 30 children have been admitted to the hospital.

Why is measles spreading?

Health experts told that living in dirty places, large families, lack of health facilities, cleanliness and lack of nutrition causes measles. Children do not get vaccinated, so its risk increases. There has been a spurt in measles cases since the end of September this year. Measles is a very contagious disease, which is spread by a virus named ‘Paramyxovirus’.
