The Ministry of External Affairs gave a reaction in the molestation case with South Korean YouTuber, what did it say?


Arindam Bagchi: In the case of molestation of South Korean YouTuber, Hyojeong Park, Union Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said during a press briefing that I am sure that he will be given full protection from the local authorities. He declined to comment further on the matter. Bagchi also said that he was not aware whether the South Korean embassy had contacted the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the harassment by South Korean YouTubers.

Bagchi said, “I would be a little hesitant to comment on this. I am not aware whether the Korean Embassy has contacted us or not. I am sure he will be given all the attention and security required by the local authorities.”

South Korean Embassy urged its citizens

The spokesperson further said that if it becomes an issue of the consulate, then the Ministry of External Affairs will definitely be involved in it. He told the media, “If there is any further update on this, we will share with you.” Meanwhile, the South Korean Embassy in India has urged its citizens not to venture out at night in view of the security issue.

A user had given information on Twitter, accused arrested

The South Korean YouTuber was allegedly harassed by a man on a Mumbai street while she was live streaming. The video of the incident went viral when a user named Aditya shared it on Twitter. YouTuber, Hyojeong Park said on Twitter, “This was my first time in India. I hope what happened to me doesn’t happen to anyone else.”

After this video went viral, the Mumbai Police arrested two people named Mobeen Chand Mohd Sheikh and Mohd Naqib Sadarialam Ansari and an FIR was registered under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. He was sent to one-day police custody.
