New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday paid tribute to the people who suffered the brunt of Partition and said that this inhuman chapter in the history of India can never be forgotten. He said that Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day would remind the younger generation of the suffering of the countrymen and inspire the citizens to maintain peace and harmony forever. He wrote, “Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day will remind the young generation of the country about the torture and pain suffered by the people during Partition and will also inspire the countrymen to maintain peace and harmony in the country forever.” The communal riots that took place during the Partition of India in 1947 displaced lakhs of people and killed a large number of people. India will celebrate its Independence Day on Monday.
