WhatsApp User Security Report August: Social media company WhatsApp has banned more than 74 lakh Indian accounts in India in the month of August. The company has taken this action under IT Rules 2021. All these accounts were involved in some wrongdoing. The company has banned 74,20,748 accounts between August 1, 2023 and August 31, 2023. Out of these, 35,06,905 accounts have been banned by WhatsApp as part of its own action without any complaint. The company does this as per its policy and to keep the platform safe.
In the month of August, the company received 14,767 complaint reports, out of which the company took action against 17 accounts. WhatsApp works at three key stages in an account’s life cycle to detect harmful or abusive accounts: registration, messaging, and responding to negative messages it receives in the form of user reports and blocks.
Last month, between July 1 and 31, the company had banned 72,28,000 WhatsApp accounts, out of which 31,08,000 accounts had already been banned by the company without any complaint.
