Sikandar Raza on IPL vs PSL: Everyone accepts that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the biggest and most famous cricket league in the world. Players get the most money in IPL. Many times, such a big bid is made for a player in IPL that one or two teams in any other league can be bought with that money. Despite all this, some people still praise Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Often Pakistani players are seen calling PSL bigger and better than IPL. But meanwhile, a Pakistani player has slammed the Pakistan Super League and called the Indian Premier League the biggest league in the world.
This has been said by none other than Sikandar Raza. Sikandar plays international cricket for Zimbabwe, but Raza was born in Punjab, Pakistan. Due to not getting opportunities in his country, Raza turned to Zimbabwe and decided to play cricket from there. At present, Raza has recovered as a star batsman. Let us tell you that Sikandar made his IPL debut in 2023 i.e. the last season itself. Sikandar was bought by Punjab Kings for a price of Rs 50 lakh.
While talking to ‘Sports Now’, Raza said, “When it comes to PSL too, IPL is the best league till now. Like, it is much better than PSL. That’s what I am trying to say. Yes, I am not a big fan of comparisons. But yes, it is. I think IPL is the biggest league on earth.”
IPL is being played since 2008, PSL started from 2016
It is noteworthy that IPL which started in 2008 had brought a revolution in T20 cricket. Seeing IPL, many countries started their own T20 leagues, which also includes Pakistan’s Pakistan Super League. When the first season of PSL was played, 8 seasons of IPL had been played. The 16th season of IPL was played in 2023, whereas only half of that i.e. 8th season of PSL was played.
