Pakistan approves hosting of Champions Trophy, PCB signs agreement with ICC

ICC Champions Trophy 2025, PCB: Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. Now Pakistan Cricket Board has put a firm seal on it by making an agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC). Earlier, Pakistan had also hosted Asia Cup 2023, but it was played in hybrid form. Talking about the Champions Trophy, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf signed the agreement for hosting the Champions Trophy last Friday (December 15).

The PCB Chairman signed the contract with General Manager Jonathan Hall at the ICC headquarters in Dubai. Pakistan Cricket Board informed about the signing of this contract through a press release. “The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday signed an official agreement with the ICC in Dubai to host the Champions Trophy 2025,” the press release said.

Regarding the security of international teams, it was further written in the press release, “PCB has informed the government that foolproof security should be provided to the teams coming for the Champions Trophy.” It was further told that Pakistan’s acting Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakkar, in a recent meeting with the PCB Chairman, had assured the support of security agencies in hosting the Champions Trophy.

India did not tour Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023

The Indian team had refused to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup played in 2023, after which the tournament was played in hybrid form. Team India played all its matches hosted by Sri Lanka. Even the final of the tournament was played in Sri Lanka only. After the Asia Cup, all the former cricketers of Pakistan had said that the Pakistan team will also not go to India for the ODI World Cup 2023, but it did not happen, the Pakistan team came to India to play the World Cup.
