After the run out of Johnny Bairstow, the anger of the fans of the England team present in the stadium was clearly visible on the Australian team. When the game was stopped at lunch time, MCC members were seen arguing with Australian players Usman Khawaja and David Warner while leaving the long room of Lord’s Stadium.
After this incident, MCC is also facing a lot of criticism. Now taking action against 3 members, they have suspended them till the completion of the investigation. The MCC issued a statement on its behalf saying that the incident of abusing and manhandling Australian players would be investigated. MCC has also suspended 3 members as well.
Usman Khawaja expressed disappointment over the incident
Australian opening batsman Usman Khawaja while talking on this incident from Channel 9 said that it was really disappointing. Lord’s is one of my favorite grounds. You are always respected at Lord’s. Especially when you pass through the members sitting in the long room. If someone asks you where is the best place to play, I will always name Lord’s, but what the members said was quite disappointing.
Khwaja further said that I was not going to listen to his words by keeping quiet. That’s why I talked to only a few of them because they were making big allegations and it was necessary to answer them. He kept talking and I said ok you have membership here. To be honest, it was a very bad experience because you expect better behavior from the members.
