Archer was able to play only five matches in IPL 2023 due to his elbow injury, after which he returned to England. In five matches of IPL, he could take only 2 wickets. On the other hand, regarding the return to the World Cup, England’s white ball coach Matthew Mott said that he is ready to take a risk on Archer keeping the World Cup in mind.
Mott was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail, “It is quite likely that we will take a risk on a proven Archer who has done it on the world stage. We are planning to make it available. Obviously a lot of things have to go their way, and it’s going to be a tight timeline, but with players like this you’re going to give them every chance to prove their fitness, so we’ll keep an open mind.”
