‘If Rohit, Virat and Bumrah play…’ statement on the challenge of team selection in T20 World Cup

Team India for T20 WC 2024: Now only six months are left for the T20 World Cup. Team India is also going to play only 6 T20 Internationals in these 6 months. In view of this, the selection of the Indian team is not going to be easy. Especially when there are at least three candidates for each place in the team.

Currently, the Indian team is full of good cricketers from senior to youth. In such a situation, selection of 15 players for the T20 World Cup is a challenging task for the team management. Former cricketer Parthiv Patel has talked about this problem of the Indian team.

In a conversation with Cricbuzz, Parthiv said, ‘According to me, the biggest challenge of the Indian team in the T20 format has always been about choosing the right combination. And this time we don’t even have much number of matches left. Now we will have only three T20 matches against Afghanistan, in which Virat, Rohit and Bumrah can play.

‘Whoever plays well in IPL will get a place?’
Parthiv says, ‘Either they can go with those players who will be the best in IPL. But even in such a situation, the selectors will have to announce the team only during half of the IPL. So this is a big challenge. Well, I am sure that before announcing the team (for the South Africa T20 series), they must have thought about who are in the line for the T20 World Cup.

‘Maybe options are still being explored’
Parthiv says, ‘I think the decision to go on the Africa tour with the youth squad means that they are looking at more options. There is no dearth of talent in India. But this is also the problem. Having so many good players is also a problem. We need to find the right combination.
