By selling TV and digital rights of 88 home matches of Team India separately, BCCI can cross the figure of about Rs 8200 crores. The new cycle has 21 home matches against Australia (five Tests, six ODIs and 10 T20Is) and 18 matches against England (10 Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is). India has to play a total of 25 Tests, 27 ODIs and 36 T20s.
In the last five-year cycle (2018 to 2023), BCCI has received $ 944 million (about Rs 6138 crore) from Star India, which includes Rs 60 crore per match (digital and TV).
This time BCCI will call for separate bids for digital and TV rights. It earned Rs 48,390 crore from media rights during IPL, in which digital rights were bought by Reliance and TV rights by Star TV. The auction process will be completed through e-auction like IPL.
Disney-Star, Reliance-Viacom will be the main contenders for India’s domestic matches. The World Cup is to be held after three months and if India does not win, then the earnings from advertisements will be affected.
