Sachin Tendulkar: The foundation of 100 centuries was laid, Sachin Tendulkar became a hero, today is a special day for cricket

New Delhi: India became independent on 15 August. Independence Day is celebrated every year on this day, but 14 August is also special for cricket fans in many ways. The journey of 100 centuries of Sachin Tendulkar, who is called the God of Cricket, started on this day. Sachin, 17 years and 112 days, scored his first century in international cricket on 14 August 1990. This innings was played against England at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester.

Batting first, England posted a mammoth total of 519 runs thanks to centuries from Graham Gooch, Michael Atherton and Robin Smith. Mohammad Azharuddin scored 179 and Sanjay Manjrekar scored 93 runs for India and the team reached 432 runs. Sachin scored 68 runs in the first innings. England declared their second innings for 320 runs and India got a target of 408 runs to win. The Indian team lost wickets at regular intervals in the second innings as well. Six of his batsmen had returned to the pavilion on the score of 183, but Sachin (119) along with Manoj Prabhakar (67) played an important role in getting the match drawn.

Bradman’s career ends
Where Sachin scored his first century on August 14, on this day the great Sir Don Bradman of Australia played his last innings. He had to score 4 runs in the last innings to retire with an average of 100 in Test cricket, but what happened. He got bowled without opening the account. This is one of the most famous ducks in cricket history.

When Bradman came out to bat, his batting average was 101.39. He could not even open the account in his last innings. Bradman needed just four runs for a batting average of 100 and 7000 Test runs but he could not complete it.
