Jairam Ramesh on G20 Presidency: The G-20 summit is to be held in India next year. In September 2023, the G-20 summit will be held in the capital of India, New Delhi. This will be a big moment for India. According to the Prime Minister, getting the chairmanship of G-20 is a matter of pride for the country. He has also appealed to the countrymen to join this event. Although the Congress has called it only a political stunt.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the chairmanship of G-20 is rotational and India was certain to get its chairmanship. The Congress leader said that so far America, Britain, Canada, South Korea, France, Mexico, Russia, Australia, Turkey, China, Germany, Argentina, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Indonesia have presided over the G-20.
‘No one did such drama’
Taking a jibe at BJP, Jairam Ramesh said that no other country has done the kind of high voltage drama that is being done after India got the presidency of G-20 for just one year. Taking a jibe at Modi, the Congress leader said that I am reminded of what LK Advani had said on July 5, 2014, when he called Modi a great event manager.
Controversy over the logo of G-20
The logo for the G-20 summit has also been released by the government. A lotus flower is visible in this logo. The Congress objected to the people on the BJP’s election symbol being a lotus flower. Jairam Ramesh had told the people that 70 years ago, Nehru had rejected the proposal to make the Congress flag the flag of India. Now the election symbol of BJP has become the official logo of the presidency of G-20. We know that PM Modi and BJP will not miss any opportunity to shamelessly promote themselves.
India has a golden opportunity – Modi
PM Modi has described the G-20 summit to be held in India as a golden opportunity for the country. The Prime Minister had said in the Mann Ki Baat program that now for one year people associated with G-20 countries will come to different parts of our country. The Prime Minister had said that these could be the tourists of the future. The PM appealed to the youth of the country to join the G20 conference. He had said that people can wear the G-20 logo on their t-shirts to join this event.
