Nirmala Sitharaman on Women’s Reservation Bill: The issue is once again heating up before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said a big thing regarding this. On Friday (December 15), he said that the Center will take steps to implement the Women’s Reservation Bill after the 2024 census.

Sitharaman said this after releasing a commemorative postage stamp in the name of Rani Abbakka at Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada district. During this, he also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sitharaman said that the Women’s Bill has become a reality because Prime Minister Narendra Modi always believes in the role of women in nation building. According to the report of news agency PTI, the Union Minister also praised the courage and bravery of Queen Abbakka, the 16th century queen of Ullal who fought against the Portuguese. Sitharaman said the central government has taken steps to document the contribution of many unknown fighters who fought against the imperial forces.

Digitization of 14 thousand 500 stories of bravery
He said that as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the government has created a digital repository of 14 thousand 500 stories of bravery. In this, places related to the freedom struggle have been highlighted.

The Union Culture Ministry has also tied up with Amar Chitra Katha to bring out three books on the role of women in the freedom struggle, women in the Constituent Assembly and tribal leaders of the freedom struggle.

Sainik School will open in the name of Rani Abbakka
The Finance Minister expressed hope that a Sainik School in the name of Rani Abbakka will be opened in coastal Karnataka. He also congratulated artist Vasudev Kamath for the portrait of Queen Abbakka used for the commemorative postage stamp.

After the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in both houses of the Parliament, President Draupadi Murmu has signed it. After this it has now become a law. According to its provisions, it will be implemented after the census of 2024. After this, 33 percent representation of women in the state assemblies and Lok Sabha will be ensured.
