Delhi Services Bill passed: Rajya Sabha MP and former PM of the country HD Deve Gowda has himself given the reason why he was not present during the discussion on Delhi Service Bill. He said that his health was not good, due to which he could not participate in the discussion and also stayed away from voting.
He told that on Monday (August 7) an important meeting of JDS was also held in Bengaluru, but due to pain in the hips, he could not be a part of that meeting for a long time. He told that he had attended that meeting only for the first 10 minutes. After that he returned home to rest where the doctor examined his health.
The former PM said that if he gets relief from pain, he will participate in the proceedings of the House on Wednesday (August 9). However, he said that despite his illness, he was watching the proceedings of the House through TV.
Delhi Service Bill also passed by Rajya Sabha
The Delhi Services Bill has been passed in the Rajya Sabha. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA alliance got 131 votes in favor of the bill, while the opposition got only 102 votes. Expressing disappointment, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called it a black day for democracy after the bill was passed. Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of backstabbing the people of Delhi and claimed that it was an insult to the voting rights of the people of Delhi.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that this bill of Congress is a danger bell for the federal structure of the country. Addressing an AAP program in Chandigarh, Mann said, “This ordinance (Bill) brought in the Rajya Sabha today is a wake-up call not only for Delhi but also for our federal structure.” He said, “We will do whatever is necessary to save democracy.”
