This MLA staked claim to contest elections against Abhishek Banerjee in 2024, said- ‘I will make the former MP’

Politics of West Bengal: Naushad Siddiqui, the sole representative of All India Secular Front (AISF) in the West Bengal Assembly, has said that he is keen to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Diamond Harbor constituency. Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of Trinamool Congress and nephew of CM Mamata Banerjee, is the current MP from this seat.

Naushad Siddiqui said on Sunday that if my party nominates me, I will contest elections from Diamond Harbor in 2024 and I will make the sitting Lok Sabha member from there a former MP.

If the ruling party’s ‘Diamond Harbor model’ of large-scale election-related violence, which was evident in the panchayat elections this year, fails to work in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the results will certainly be different.

Doesn’t care about getting support from Congress-Left Front alliance

AISF sources said Siddiqui is certain to contest from Diamond Harbor in 2024, whether the party gets support from the Congress-Left Front alliance or not. Siddiqui has already made it clear that despite the alliance and understanding with Congress and the Left Front in the 2021 assembly elections, there will be no such alliance in 2024.

He also expressed his reservations about the big opposition party India Alliance. He said that the presence of Trinamool Congress in that opposition platform is the only obstacle for AISF to be a part of it.

‘Secular Front is not in India alliance because of Trinamool Congress’

Siddiqui said, “I personally admire Congress leader Rahul Gandhi a lot. Had Trinamool Congress India not been in the alliance, AISF would have had no hesitation in joining hands with opposition forces. The only hindrance is the presence of Trinamool Congress.

AISF is preparing to contest elections on these seats

Apart from Diamond Harbour, AISF also plans to field its candidates independently in several Lok Sabha constituencies in districts like Murshidabad, Malda, North Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas and Howrah, which have a sizeable minority population. Is.

Preparations begin for formation of booth committees in assembly constituencies

AISF has started preparations for the formation of booth committees in their assembly constituencies. Siddiqui himself is roaming around the entire state and monitoring this process.
