‘This demand is one-sided’, SC dismisses plea blaming Kuki community responsible for Manipur violence

Supreme Court hearing: The Supreme Court on Monday (July 31) refused to hear a plea that held only illegal Kuki infiltrators responsible for the Manipur violence. Describing it as one-sided, the Chief Justice asked to rectify the petition and file it again. Actually, in the petition of People’s Alliance for Peace and Progress, Manipur, it was said that Kuki people are cultivating opium by cutting down forests. This is the main reason for the violence. On the other hand, the hearing in the case of indecency with women in Manipur is yet to be held.

On Monday (July 31), the Supreme Court will also hear the case of indecency with women in Manipur. On July 27, the Central Government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that the case of misbehavior with women has been handed over to the CBI. Before the hearing, two women who were treated inhumanely in the viral video have also filed a petition.

The Supreme Court termed this petition as one-sided

In the viral video case of Manipur women, the Central Government said in an affidavit on Thursday (July 27) that the investigation of the case is being transferred to the CBI with the permission of the state government. The government said that speedy disposal of the case is necessary. The court should allow the case to be transferred outside the state. On the other hand, on Monday, while hearing another petition related to Manipur, the Supreme Court called it one-sided. In this Manipur petition, it was said that the Kuki people are cultivating opium by cutting down forests, which was cited as the main reason for the violence in the petition. Describing the petition as one-sided, the Supreme Court asked for improvement in the petition and asked to file the petition again.
