Tamil Nadu Car Accident: Six people died in a collision between a car and a government bus near Andhanur bypass late night on Monday (23 October 2023) in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. A Tata Sumo carrying 10 people was going from Tiruvannamalai to Bengaluru when it had a massive collision with a government bus near Sengam. The collision was so dangerous that many people in the car got injured.
Six members of the car died on the spot, while four people were arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment. About 10 passengers in the bus also suffered injuries. Police reached the spot and shifted all the injured to Sengam Government Hospital. Admitted to the hospital. Police said, we are investigating the matter to find out how the accident happened.
One accused sentenced to three months imprisonment in Mumbai accident case
A Mumbai court sentenced a BEST bus driver to three months imprisonment for injuring a cyclist in the Peddar Road area in January 2021. While delivering the verdict, the court said that negligent driving of a public transport vehicle poses a serious threat to the passengers as well as other road users.
The court rejected the bus driver’s plea for leniency in punishment, saying it would send a wrong message to the society. He had appealed for leniency in the punishment on the grounds that this was the first crime in his 28-year career. The bus driver was convicted by Girgaum court’s Metropolitan Magistrate Nadeem Patel on October 21 under Indian Penal Code sections 279 (rash driving on a public road) and 337 (causing any act likely to endanger human life or safety of any person).
