SC adjourns hearing on caste-based survey case in Bihar, maintains status quo
Bihar caste based survey hearing: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the caste-based survey case in Bihar to next Monday. According to the information, the Supreme Court has refused to order to maintain the status quo regarding the survey. The Supreme Court further said that it will hear all the petitions filed against the High Court’s decision together.
Earlier, the Patna High Court had declared this survey correct. Due to this, Akhilesh Kumar, a resident of Nalanda, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court on Thursday. In this petition, he appealed to maintain the status quo in the matter.
The state government can get the survey done
On August 1, the Patna High Court dismissed all the petitions challenging the Bihar government’s decision regarding the survey. The High Court had said that the state government has every right to conduct the survey. The step taken by the state government regarding the survey is completely legal and its purpose is to do justice to the people. The government had ordered a caste-based survey last year and it was launched earlier this year.
