PM Modi angry at Congress over free ration scheme, ‘wants to complain to Election Commission…’

Election 2023: The debate continues regarding the announcement made during PM Modi’s election rally to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana by five years. Meanwhile, PM Modi claimed on Wednesday (November 8) that Congress is going to complain against him in the Election Commission regarding this.

Congress has rejected this claim. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was part of the Congress delegation that reached the Election Commission, said, “We have not yet given any complaint to the Election Commission.” I don’t know if anyone has complained behind my back. Maybe it will be given in future because the way PM Modi is speaking will be the reason.

What did PM Modi say?
PM Modi said in Guna, Madhya Pradesh that Congress people are worried as to why Modi has now announced to provide free food grains to the poor for 5 years.

He said, “Congress has announced that it will go to the Election Commission. Will file a case against Modi. During this time they will say that Modi has committed a big crime. Tell me whether we should be afraid of this action of Congress. Tell Congress that if you want to stop it then go to any court. I am before the public court.

What did Congress say?
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh had recently attacked PM Modi regarding the entire issue. He had said, “Completely dejected and disappointed, the Prime Minister announced to extend the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana for five years in the midst of the election campaign in Chhattisgarh.” This is a complete violation of the model code of conduct.

He also said, “It has now been learned that the Union Cabinet has not yet approved taking this scheme forward. Actually this is not surprising, because this is how Prime Minister Modi works. The cabinet has no importance at all. First his announcement, then cabinet approval. Remember, 8 November 2016 (demonetisation)?

Jairam Ramesh further said, “Whatever one says, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana itself is a rebranded and revamped version of the National Food Security Act, 2013. As Chief Minister, Modi ji had strongly opposed this Act. Now its extension for five years reflects not only the weakening image of the Prime Minister, but also the deepening economic crisis and financial pain.

What did PM Modi announce?
While addressing an election rally in Durg, Chhattisgarh on November 4, PM Modi had said, “The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which was started during Covid-19, will be extended for the next five years.” Repeated in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh also.
