Pinarayi Vijayan Slams Congress: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday (August 30) alleged that the BJP-led central government and the Congress party have the same stand on communalism. He also accused the Congress of working against the interests of Kerala.
The attitude of the BJP is the same as that of the Congress – Pinarayi Vijayan
Vijayan said that the Congress has never been able to take a strong stand against communalism while it claims itself to be secular. He said that past experiences show that the stand of the BJP on this issue is the same as that of the Congress.
Vijayan said that this is the reason why Congress leader and former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar had to criticize the late senior Congress leader. Aiyar had last week alleged that former prime minister Narasimha Rao was “communal” and called him the “first BJP prime minister” in the country.
Congress accused of forging alliance with BJP
Vijayan said that the Kerala unit of the Congress is also of the same stand as it has tied up with the BJP for seats in the local body elections. Vijayan made these allegations while addressing people at some places in Kottayam as part of the ongoing campaign for the by-election in Puthupalli assembly constituency. Oommen Chandy, former Chief Minister of Kerala and MLA from Puthupalli passed away in July this year, due to which the by-election is being held on this seat.
