‘Opposition shedding crocodile tears over Manipur, constantly changing goal posts’- Nirmala Sitharaman
Manipur violence: The government and the opposition are at loggerheads over the Manipur violence. Opposition MPs are constantly trying to corner the government regarding this matter. Recently the MPs of the opposition coalition INDIA have visited Manipur. After which the attack on the government has intensified. Meanwhile, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has attacked the opposition while defending the government. Sitharaman accused the opposition of constantly changing the goal posts on the Manipur crisis and not allowing Parliament to function.
Opposition does not want discussion – Finance Minister
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government has agreed to discuss the Manipur violence in Parliament, but the opposition did not allow it to happen. During this, he said that when it comes to discussion, the opposition creates ruckus. He himself does not want to allow this matter to be discussed.
‘Opposition should keep the conversation in Parliament’
Regarding the visit of opposition MPs to Manipur, Nirmala Sitharaman said that these people have come via Manipur, where they interacted with the people. Now we want to hear what he interacted with people in Manipur and what he was told. They should discuss this information in the Parliament. The Finance Minister said who is stopping them from doing so? He said that the opposition is shedding crocodile tears on this matter.
‘Opposition took advantage of sensitive matter’
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while targeting the opposition parties, said that the opposition has completely disrupted the entire functioning of the Parliament by saying Manipur-Manipur. First they say that they want a discussion on this matter, then they do not allow the discussion to happen. He said that the mentality of the opposition has also become like the black clothes they wear. Sitharaman said that Manipur is a very sensitive issue, which has been taken advantage of by the opposition.
