He further said that today his relations with Congress have completely ended.

On discussions about joining BJP, Ashok Chavan said that he has not yet decided to join any party. At the same time, he also clarified that the resignation has no connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also submitted his resignation (from the post of MLA) to Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar.

Chavan has said that I have not talked to any MLA yet. In response to a question, Chavan said that work is not being done at a fast pace regarding seat sharing in Maharashtra. Chavan also said that he has no grudges with anyone. He said that he will continue to work for the development of Maharashtra. Will decide whether to join any party in the coming days. In a letter to Maharashtra Pradesh Congress President Nana Patole, Chavan said that he was leaving the party.

Ashok Chavan is the son of former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shankarrao Chavan. Chavan had lost his Nanded seat to BJP’s Pratap Patil Chikhlikar in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Chavan belongs to an influential political family based in Nanded district of Maharashtra state. His brother-in-law Bhaskarrao Bapurao Khatgaonkar Patil has been a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) thrice and MP thrice. Chavan was the MLA from Bhokar in Nanded. His wife has also been an MLA from this seat in the past.
