IPS Manilal Patidar Sacked: IPS Manilal Patidar was dismissed from the Indian Police Service by the Union Home Ministry. Patidar’s name has also been removed from the website of UP Police.
Manilal Patidar’s name was struck off from the civil list of 2014 batch IPS officers of UP Police. This action has been taken by the Union Home Ministry after the report sent by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Actually Manilal Patidar was accused of illegal recovery in the case of suicide of mining trader Indrakant Tripathi in Mahoba. Due to this the businessman had committed suicide. At present, Manilal is lodged in Lucknow jail. The vigilance wing of Uttar Pradesh has filed a charge sheet against him after registering a case.
What is the matter?
According to news agency IANS, Patidar was the Superintendent of Police of Mahoba district in September 2020. During this, Indrakant Tripathi, the owner of the stone quarry, committed suicide. In his police complaint, Nitish Pandey, who was the director of PP Pandey Infrastructure, had accused Patidar of demanding bribe from Tripathi to carry out his business activity of supplying pebbles for the construction work of Bundelkhand Expressway.
A video surfaced. In this, Tripathi was claiming that the Patidars were forcing him to pay Rs 5 lakh every month to run his business. IANS reported that the UP Vigilance Department has registered a case against Patidar under the Prevention of Corruption Act. After absconding for two years, Patidar surrendered in court on October 15, 2022.
