Dheeraj Sahu IT raid: The Income Tax Department has recovered more than Rs 300 crore in cash by raiding the premises of Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Dheeraj Prasad Sahu. To quickly complete the counting of seized cash, the Income Tax Department on Sunday (December 10) has ordered more note counting machines.

According to the IT officer, the cash seized from Dheeraj Sahu is likely to be around Rs 300 crore, which is the highest recovery in a single operation by any investigating agency so far.

Initially, more than 30 officers were involved along with the bank employees to count the seized cash. To quickly complete the counting of seized cash, the IT department has called in about 40 big and small machines as well as more employees. Meanwhile, Congress has distanced itself from its Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu after such huge amount of cash was recovered from the liquor company linked to him.

On this matter, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Twitter, “The Indian National Congress has nothing to do with the business of MP Dheeraj Sahu. Only he can tell, and he should also clarify how the Income Tax authorities will Such huge amounts of cash are reportedly being recovered from their hideouts.”
PM Modi took a jibe at Congress
Politics has become heated after huge amount of cash was found from the hideouts of Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu. Regarding this, many leaders including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda have targeted Congress.
While PM Modi had taken a jibe at Congress by sharing a laughing emoji on X, Home Minister Amit Shah had claimed, “Nobody would have seen so many notes together in their life, only bank cashiers would have seen so many notes.”
