Manipur violence: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur. The CM of Assam said on Thursday (June 29) that Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur would not bring any improvement in the dire situation in the state. He described this tour as one day’s media coverage.

Rahul Gandhi reached the violence-affected state of Manipur on Thursday. Where the police had asked him to go by helicopter instead of going to Churachandpur by road. The police had expressed the apprehension of violence. At the same time, Congress rejected the police’s warning and termed it as a game of BJP’s dirty politics.

According to news agency ANI, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that in view of the situation in Manipur, the central and state governments are trying to bring the situation under control. He said that there is no need for any political leader (Rahul Gandhi) to go there, he will not find any solution to this matter. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that if there is any positive result from his visit then it is a different matter, otherwise it is a media hype of one day… One day episode.

He said that we should not take any political advantage from this sad state of the state. In a tweet, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the situation in Manipur calls for ending differences through empathy. He further said that it is not in the interest of the country for any political leader to use his so-called visit to increase differences. He said that both the communities of Manipur have categorically rejected such attempts.
