‘Don’t tell mother that I am stuck here’, the worker trapped in the tunnel in Uttarkashi told his brother.

Uttarakhand Tunnel Collapse: Workers trapped inside the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel collapsed on November 12 in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, and talked to their families through radio, which was extremely emotional.

Pushkar, a 25-year-old construction worker trapped in the tunnel, urged his brother Vikram Singh not to tell his mother that he was trapped there, AFP quoted TOI as saying.

While talking on the radio, Pushkar told Vikram, “Don’t tell mother that I am one of the people trapped here. Mother will be worried if you tell the truth.

The families of the workers are waiting outside the tunnel and praying for their safety. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has decided to provide food and health facilities to the family members. Food items like gram, kheer and almonds are being sent through pipes to the workers trapped in the tunnel.

‘Couldn’t talk to brother’

According to news agency PTI, Maharaj Singh, brother of a worker, said, “I could not talk to my brother. His voice was barely audible. Rescue work in the tunnel has stopped. They also lack food and water. Our patience is paying off, what else can I say?
