In this context, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) has said that party chief Sharad Pawar was the first to bring the Women’s Reservation Bill at the state level. It was said that women should also be respected through the bill.
Actually, National President of NCP’s Youth Wing and party spokesperson Dheeraj Sharma talked about the Women’s Reservation Bill. He said that Pawar Saheb (Sharad Pawar) was the first to bring this bill at the state level. He said that women should be respected through this bill. Women should be respected at every level. This bill will have to be implemented properly. Women’s political participation should be maximum.
Congress has also claimed to be the first to bring the bill
In fact, ever since the Women’s Reservation Bill was talked about, the game of taking credit through different parties has started. Before NCP, Congress claimed that its party was the first to bring this bill. Even Congress MP and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhary even said that this bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha during the tenure of Manmohan Singh.
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that in 1989, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi wanted reservation for women in local body elections. Keeping this in mind, he brought this bill. The Congress MP said that the governments of Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh could not pass this bill due to challenges. He said that Sonia Gandhi had also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this bill.
Congress called women’s reservation bill a ‘jumla’
At the same time, Congress has also termed the Women’s Reservation Bill introduced on Tuesday as an election gimmick. The party says that the government has betrayed women. It has been mentioned in the bill that it will be implemented in 2029 after census and delimitation. Congress Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi really talks about women empowerment, then he should implement it immediately without any ifs and buts.
