Randeep Singh Surjewala case: Congress spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him in a 23-year-old case, on which the Supreme Court has stayed for 5 weeks. This warrant was issued by the MP/MLA court of Varanasi. The court asked Surjewala to file an application in the MP/MLA court within 4 weeks to get the warrant cancelled.
This case is related to the disturbance that took place during the Youth Congress demonstration in Varanasi in the year 2000. Due to Surjewala not appearing, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant. Due to this there was a possibility of his arrest.
