Nari Shakti Vandan Act: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked Congress over the Women’s Reservation Bill. He said that the opposition is not able to digest the Women’s Reservation Bill. The Women’s Reservation Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday (September 19) as the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ bill.

Taking aim at the government, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that this bill is only for making headlines today, whereas its implementation can happen much later. Amidst the reactions of Congress leaders, Home Minister Amit Shah targeted the opposition through social media platform X.

What did Home Minister Amit Shah say?

Home Minister Shah wrote on Twitter, “People across India are happy with the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act in the Parliament. This shows the unwavering commitment of the Modi government to empower women.

Along with this, Shah wrote, “It is regrettable that the opposition is not able to digest this.” And, what is even more shameful is that except tokenism, Congress has never been serious about women’s reservation. Either he allowed the laws to lapse or his allies stopped the bill from being introduced. His double character will never be hidden, no matter how many stunts he pulls to get credit.

Jairam Ramesh cornered the government on women’s reservation bill

Earlier on Tuesday (September 19), Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wrote on Twitter regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, “In this season of election statements, this is the biggest statement!” This is a huge betrayal of the hopes of crores of women and girls of the country. We have also told earlier that the Modi government has not yet conducted the decennial census to be held in 2021. India is the only G20 country which has failed to conduct census.

He further wrote, “It has now been said that after the Women’s Reservation Bill becomes an Act, which will be the first decennial census, reservation for women will be implemented only after that. When will this census take place? The bill also states that reservation will come into effect after the publication of the next census and the subsequent delimitation process. Will census and delimitation be done before 2024 elections? This bill is just for making headlines today, while its implementation can happen much later. This is nothing but EVM – EVent Management.
