Amravati Inner Ring Road case: Andhra Pradesh CID on Saturday (September 30) issued a notice to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road case. CID has asked him to appear for questioning on October 4.
CID has issued a notice under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The TDP leader has been staying in New Delhi for the last few days, a team of CID had gone to the national capital to serve the notice. Lokesh has been instructed to be available for questioning at the CID office on October 4 at 10 am.
Nara Lokesh is the 14th accused in the case.
The CID had filed a memo in the Vijayawada ACB court on September 26, in which Lokesh was named as the 14th accused in the case. The TDP general secretary had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court for anticipatory bail in the case. During the hearing, CID had told the court that it would issue a notice to Lokesh under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
There is no possibility of arrest in the case, hence the court disposed of the TDP leader’s petition by directing him to cooperate in the investigation. Lokesh is the son of TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Chandrababu Naidu is currently in judicial custody in the skill development scam case.
The CID has already named Naidu as an accused in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road case, AP Fiber Net case and filed a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant petition against him in the Vijayawada ACB court.
YSRCP MLA had complained in May 2022
The CID had filed an FIR against Chandrababu Naidu, former Municipal Administration Minister Dr P Narayan, Heritage Foods Limited and others for alleged irregularities in the construction of an inner ring road in Amaravati in May 2022.
The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Mangalagiri MLA A Rama Krishna Reddy alleging that the 2014- During 2019, some illegal and corrupt activities were carried out by high ranking government officials, so as to provide wrongful benefits to some individuals.
Heritage Foods is a company owned by Chandrababu Naidu’s family. Since Nara Lokesh fears his arrest in the AP Skill Development and AP Fibernet scam, he also filed an anticipatory bail petition in the High Court. The High Court passed an interim order on Friday and directed the CID not to arrest him till October 4. Let us tell you that the DCP of CID told the media, “We gave notice (to Nara Lokesh). He has replied. He will be present on October 4.
