Abundance in Millets Song:: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning Indian-American singer Faloo for a song to highlight the benefits of millets and their potential to reduce world hunger. The song ‘Abundance in Millets’ is sung by Mumbai-born singer-songwriter Falguni Shah and her husband and singer Gaurav Shah.
Shah is known as Falu. This song will be released on 16 June. On India’s proposal, the United Nations General Assembly has declared the year 2023 as the ‘International Millet Year’. Before the release of this song, Falu told PTI, “Prime Minister Modi has written this song along with me and my husband Gaurav Shah.”
Falu has been honored with Grammy Award
Falu and Gaurav Shah will release the song ‘Abundance of Millets’ on June 16, 2023, featuring Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to celebrate the ‘International Year of Millets’, said a statement on Falu’s website. The song ‘Abundance of Millets’ has been composed to spread awareness about the importance of this highly nutritious grain in reducing hunger in the world.
Faloo was awarded the Grammy Award in 2022 in the Best Children’s Album category for ‘A Colorful World’. Falu said the idea of composing a song about millet grains came to his mind during his meeting with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi last year after winning the Grammy.
The song will also be translated into regional languages
Falu said that he had discussed with Modi the power of music to bring about change and uplift humanity and during this, the Prime Minister suggested he to write a song with the message of ending hunger. He said that Modi told him that millet is a very nutritious food and very beneficial for health. Falu said she “naively,” asked the prime minister if he would co-write a song with her, to which he agreed. He told that to ensure a wider reach of this song, which will be released in English and Hindi, it will also be translated into regional languages.
‘This is a once in a lifetime opportunity
Falu said that initially, she was nervous about writing a song with the Prime Minister, but the whole process went very smoothly. He said, “It is a different thing to write for him (Prime Minister Modi) and a different thing to write with him. In between the songs, you will hear a speech written by him and delivered in his voice.
Falu said that it is a matter of great “honor” for him to write a song on coarse grains with PM Modi. He said that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an artist. He said that this song written in English and Hindi will underline the benefits of coarse grains.
