MCD election will be held under the shadow of 60 drones! 40 thousand policemen deployed, keeping a close watch

MCD Election 2022: About 40,000 policemen, 20,000 home guards and 108 companies of paramilitary and state armed police forces will be deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Sunday. Police said that 60 drones would be used to maintain law and order in sensitive areas. For the elections to the 250 wards of the MCD, the main focus of the police will be to prevent the possibility of communal tension and prevent candidates from trying to woo voters through illegal means.

Rehearsals have also been organized for police, paramilitary forces and home guards. North Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sagar Singh Kalsi said the personnel were encouraged to display fair conduct, be vigilant against miscreants and perform duties in compliance with the model code of conduct. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Zone-2 Sagar Preet Hooda said that survey of all sensitive polling stations has been done.

Tight security arrangements for MCD elections

In Zone-1, Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Dipendra Pathak said that the police is keeping an eye on the MCD elections for the last six-eight weeks. He said that district level senior officers have been asked to stay in their offices at night. At the same time, police inspectors have been instructed to take action on any phone call related to gang fights or any conflict that can take a communal form.

Pathak said, “We are paying special attention to maintaining law and order and creating a very secure environment for coordination between the Election Commission and the agencies involved in conducting the elections. If any activity is done to disturb the peace then professional police and legal action will be taken.

40,000 police personnel deployed for Delhi MCD elections

Delhi Special CP (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda has said that the MCD elections will be held in Delhi on the 4th, for which the police have made complete preparations in 7 districts of South and West region. All the booths have been analysed, police will be deployed in all the premises.
