foxglove :The beauty of flowers attracts everyone. The fragrance of flowers fascinates everyone. However, there is a flower which is as beautiful to look at as it is dangerous. This flower, which is liked all over the world, can kill you. The name of this deadly flower is Foxglove. It is mostly used in herbal medicine. Now experts have warned that it can cause heart attack. Complete information about this is given in the Live Science report.
This flower plant is poisonous
Assistant Professor Jane Wang of State University of New York told Live Science that a very powerful compound called cardiac glycosides is found in foxglove, which can be fatal for heart health. Due to these compounds, conditions like ventricular fibrillation can also occur. Because of this, someone may suddenly have a heart attack and may die.
A plant no less than a Sanjeevani herb
The most surprising thing is that this plant works like Sanjeevani herb in heart failure. This comes in handy when the medicine stops working. The flower of this plant is found extensively in Asia and Europe. Jane Wang said that the compound found in foxgloves is called ‘cardiac’ which acts on the heart muscle and the word ‘glycosides’ itself indicates that these compounds contain sugar molecules. Which makes it easier for the body to absorb them.
what does the report say
Live Science reports that a healthy heart pumps blood throughout the body through thousands of heart cells. It is contracted to complete the entire process. Different ion channels and transporters are found in the membranes of these cells, which allow charged particles like sodium, potassium and chloride to pass through. The movement of these ions generates electric current and sodium-potassium pumps help in maintaining electrical balance.
Do not consume this plant even by mistake
Dr. Wang cautions that even though digoxin is very effective in heart failure patients, if by mistake any part of this plant is put in the mouth or eaten, then one should immediately consult a doctor. Because this plant is so poisonous that it can even kill. Due to this, nausea, skin irritation, headache, diarrhea, blurred vision, vomiting, dizziness and excessive urination can occur. This can cause fatigue, muscle weakness, tremors, confusion, cramps, abnormal heartbeat, low blood pressure and can even be fatal.
