Judge-Stenographer MMS: The judiciary has come under the scanner after an objectionable video surfaced of an Additional Sessions Judge of Rouse Avenue Court with a female stenographer. While hearing the matter, the Delhi High Court suspended both (the judge and the female stenographer) with immediate effect. Along with this, the government has been ordered to block this video on social media. Taking suo motu cognizance of the video, the High Court has given this order.
This video is of a judge of Rouse Avenue Court. In the video, the accused judge is seen in an objectionable condition with a woman in his cabin. This woman has been told to work in his staff. According to media reports, the woman seen in the video is the judge’s stenographer.

Issuing the order, Justice Yashwant Verma of the Delhi High Court said that the video is likely to cause irreparable damage to the right to privacy of individuals. That’s why it should be stopped from spreading. The court has also suspended the accused judge and the woman stenographer. The court has also constituted a committee to investigate this video. How the video was made in the judge’s chamber will also be investigated.
Delhi HC took suo motu cognizance of the video
According to media reports, discussions about such antics were going on long back between the judge and the female stenographer in the court premises. It is suspected that the staff working in the court recorded the video from the CCTV footage and made it viral. It was only after the video went viral that the lawyers demanded an inquiry. Someone handed over the video to the Chief Justice and he has taken this action taking cognizance of it seriously.
The woman called the video fake
The woman seen in the video has called this video fake. The woman has also filed a petition to stop the video from going viral. The High Court has given instructions to take action against the woman as well. A committee is being formed to investigate the matter.
