JNU News: Ruckus over casteist slogans, JNU management asked to install CCTV cameras in all buildings

JNU Controversy: Amidst the incident of casteist slogans being written on several walls of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the university management has issued advisory to all its centers asking them to install CCTV cameras in the buildings. The JNU administration has also said in the advisory that all schools and centers will have only one entry and exit point. At the same time, on Friday, teacher and student organizations have requested for an “independent and fair investigation” into the matter.

Earlier, the students had claimed to have demolished the walls of the ‘School of International Studies-II’ building on which slogans against caste and communities were written. The university has asked all the centers to put up notice boards at suitable places in each center to prevent vandalism of public property.

Slogans written against people of a particular caste-community

In these slogans, members of that caste have been asked to leave the university and the country by writing special caste-specific and community-specific slogans. Amidst the uproar over this, the administration said that keeping in view the existing security issues in the campus, this six-point advisory has been issued. In these slogans, members of a particular caste and community were asked to leave the university and the country.
