Navy Chief on INS Vikrant: A day before Navy-Day, the annual press conference of the Indian Navy was addressed by Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar in the capital Delhi on Saturday. During this, he described the commissioning of INS Vikrant as historic. He said the commissioning of INS Vikrant is a historic event for the country and the Navy and it is truly a torch bearer of Atmanirbharta. R Hari Kumar said that there are very few countries which have the capability to build an aircraft carrier and now we are one of the elite band.
Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar further said, “It (INS Vikrant) inspires confidence among us and is a shining symbol of our indigenous capability. It has contributed to raising the nation’s stature in the world… I We are sure that Vikrant will proudly fly the tricolor across wide swathes of the Indo-Pacific region in the years to come.”
‘Will become self-sufficient navy by 2047’
The Navy Chief said, “Recent global events underline that we cannot depend on others for our security needs… The government has given us very clear guidelines on Atmanirbhar Bharat and the top leadership One of the commitments of the Navy is that we will become an Atmanirbhar Navy by 2047.”
Why was the new flag unveiled?
R Hari Kumar said that the unveiling of a new naval flag was in line with the government’s policy of removing or removing remnants of colonial symbols and practices, so we have unveiled the new flag. The new design has been made by a sailor of our ship. We just worked to rectify that.
‘3,000 Agniveers were recruited’
The Navy chief also spoke on the Agneepath scheme. He said that a total of 3000 Agniveers have been recruited so far, out of which 341 are women sailors. R Hari Kumar said, “Next year we are looking at inducting women officers in all branches and not just 7-8 branches which are limited till date.” He also said that the presentation is going on on the operational preparations made by the Navy in the last one year.
‘Integration of aircraft with INS will be done by May-June’
Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar on Wednesday said the integration of the aircraft with the newly commissioned aircraft carrier INS Vikrant is likely to be completed by May or June next year. He said that the aircraft integration test has been started.
He also said that the first thing we need to check is about the aircraft landing system. Those tests are currently underway. We hope to complete it by May or in June before the monsoon.” On the induction of the first batch of women cadets into the NDA, he said, “Our forces are gender neutral, women are already doing combat services. Huh. There are women officers in the forces including the Navy.”
Mention of Bipin Rawat
In the press conference, Admiral Kumar also mentioned Late General Bipin Rawat. He said that Bipin Rawat had laid the foundation for increasing coordination between the three services. “CDS General Chauhan also provided renewed impetus in this direction. We are working to ensure that we achieve greater jointness, cohesion and post-integration in the way we plan and operate. “
