Gujarat Election 2022: Cash, drugs, liquor and gifts worth over Rs 290 crore have been seized so far in poll-bound Gujarat. The seizure this time is 10 times more than the total seizure made during the 2017 assembly elections in Gujarat. Assembly elections are being held in Gujarat in two phases on 1 and 5 December, the results of which will come on 8 December.
According to the Election Commission, surveillance through various enforcement agencies has resulted in record seizures during the election process in the state. The Commission said that an operation is being carried out in Vadodara (Rural) and Vadodara City under the leadership of a team of ATS Gujarat officials. The team has identified two units manufacturing the drug (Mephedrone) and seized 143 kg of Mephedrone worth about Rs 478 crore.

Five people have been detained in this regard and a criminal case is being registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The Election Commission said that this campaign is still going on and detailed information will be made available after its completion. It is noteworthy that in the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections, the total seizure was Rs 27.21 crore. This time till November 29, the total seizure was Rs 290.24 crore, which is 10.66 times more than the seizures in 2017.
In addition to the banned drugs seized in the Gujarat ATS operation, narcotics worth Rs 61.96 crore have been recovered. According to the commission’s data, more than four lakh liters of liquor worth Rs 14.88 crore has been recovered from the state. Please tell that there is a ban on alcohol in Gujarat. The first phase of polling in the state is to be held on December 1. In the first phase, voting will be held on 89 seats in 19 districts. For this, the Election Commission has completed all the preparations.
