During the fierce outbreak of the Corona epidemic, Covid vaccination was the only option that could curb the deaths due to infection in the country. When the government started the Corona vaccination drive, a large number of people came forward and got the vaccine. Due to the effect after vaccination, many people also died. Now the Center has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on this and has clearly said that the government is not responsible for the deaths after Covid vaccination. In fact, this affidavit of the government has come in response to a petition filed by the parents of two girls who died after getting the Corona vaccine last year.

Sarkan said in his affidavit that in cases where death has occurred after getting the vaccine, the relatives of such people can file a lawsuit in the civil court demanding compensation, as this is the only way. The petition has demanded an inquiry into the deaths and an expert medical board to prepare a protocol for early detection of adverse effects after vaccination and timely treatment. While filing its affidavit on this petition last week, the Health Ministry had said that holding the government responsible for the deaths after vaccination and demanding compensation is not a legally correct step.

Getting vaccinated is not a legal obligation – Center

The Center told the Supreme Court that the corona vaccine used under the Kovid vaccination drive is made by third parties. These are considered safe and effective. The Center also emphasized that there is no legal compulsion to get the Kovid-19 vaccine. Whoever has the mind and who feels safe, should get the vaccine.

The ministry said that the vaccine used under the vaccination drive is made by someone else. It is reviewed in India as well as in other countries and then it is considered safe and effective. In the affidavit filed on November 23, the ministry further said that the government strongly encourages all eligible people to take the Covid vaccine in the public interest. Although there is no pressure on anyone for this, nor is there any legal obligation to take the vaccine. People get vaccinated on their own wish.
