Mumbai, June 10. A house in Malad West, Mumbai, Maharashtra collapsed last night, in which 11 people are reported to have died and 7 people have been injured. According to BMC, this building was four-storeyed, due to heavy rains this building collapsed. Many people were injured in the accident. The injured are being treated in the hospital. Relief and rescue work is going on at the spot. Three buildings adjacent to the damaged building have been evacuated.
According to the information, this building was located close to the New Collector compound. Three buildings around the building whose condition is not good have been evacuated. Efforts are on to rescue the people trapped in the debris after the accident. Mumbai’s West Zone 11 DCP Vishal Thakur said that 15 women and children have been rescued in the accident, who have been admitted to the hospital. It is feared that some more people may have been trapped in the accident. The team is present on the spot and the work of rescuing the people is going on.
Maharashtra government minister Aslam Shaikh also reached the spot. He said the building collapsed due to rain. Relief and rescue work is on. The injured people have been shifted to the hospital. Debris is being cleared to see if there are more people buried under it. The local resident present at the spot said that the incident happened at around 10.15 pm. When two men attacked me, I came out of the building. When I was going out I saw three buildings have collapsed.
