There will be a total of 23.93 lakh seats in UG, PG and Diploma in engineering colleges across the country in the session 2022. Of these, there will be 13.5 lakh seats in BTech and BE programmes. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has completed the process of accreditation of institutions ranging from admission, course, seat, syllabus to technical colleges for the academic session 2022-23.
In technical colleges, 35.27 lakh seats have been approved for admission this year in engineering, management, pharmacy, hotel management, MCA, architecture and planning, applied arts and crafts, artificial intelligence and data science etc.
According to sources, AICTE has completed the approval process for admission in the academic session 2022-23. AICTE has sent this information to all the states and recognized higher educational institutions.
According to sources, this year AICTE has approved admission for 35, 27,422 seats for all courses like UG, PG, Diploma, PhD, Fellowship, Bachelor of Vocational, Diploma in Vocational, Dual Degree, Integrated etc. Of these, there are a total of 23,93,820 seats for engineering, out of which 13,48,144 seats are for undergraduate program, while 11,38,580 seats will be for postgraduate programme.
Apart from this, there are 10,05203 seats in Diploma and Advanced Diploma. There will be 23280 seats in Bachelor and Diploma in Vocational Course and 12095 seats in Integrated Program, while there are only 120 seats in Dual Degree. AICTE’s engineering colleges seats are different from IITs, NITs, IIITs.
Seats increased compared to last year
The engineering seats are being increased in the 2022 session. Last year i.e. for the 2021-22 session there were about 23.28 lakh seats, while this time around 23.75 lakh seats will get an opportunity for admission. That is, there has been an increase in engineering seats this year.
42 new colleges got approval
AICTE has approved 142 new colleges this time for the upcoming session, while 172 institutes applied as new colleges. Out of this, only 142 colleges have been able to meet various parameters. There are 67 institutes of maximum engineering and technology. Apart from this, the recognition of 11 colleges has been cancelled. At the same time, the approval of 91 colleges has been withdrawn, but will continue to function till the completion of the degree due to the studies of the second, third and fourth year classes. But the said colleges will not be able to take new admissions. Apart from this, admission has been banned in nine colleges due to various reasons. At the same time, 44 two institutions (registered with a society) have been merged. In the session 2022, there will be an opportunity to study 166 new programs.
CUET: Examination of 50 centers postponed on the second day
New Delhi. On the second day of CUET graduation also, Friday’s exam has been postponed due to technical snag. An official of the National Testing Agency (NTA) said that there has been a problem in 20 centers of the first shift and 30 centers of the second shift across the country. Therefore, it has been decided to postpone the examination of 5th August. Its date will be announced later. Undergraduate entrance examinations in central universities began on Thursday at 489 centers across the country.
