Election Results Live: Counting of votes is going on for Gujarat and Himachal elections. While the BJP is heading towards a landslide victory in Gujarat, the Congress has crossed the majority mark in the trends in Himachal Pradesh. BJP is leading in 158 seats in Gujarat. On the other hand, Congress is leading in only 16 seats. Aam Aadmi Party is leading in 4 and other 4 seats.
Along with this, if we talk about Himachal Pradesh, here Congress has won 22 seats, while it is leading in 17 seats. Whereas, BJP has won 14 seats and is leading in 12 seats. Apart from this, the independent candidate has won three seats.
Accept both victory and defeat: Kharge
On these election results, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that we accept both victory and defeat. We live in Himachal Pradesh, so I thank the people there. I will not take credit for Gujarat’s defeat: Kharge
On Gujarat’s defeat, he said that I will not take credit for that. In a democracy, there is victory and defeat. We will continue to follow our principles and keep fighting. Where there are shortcomings, it will be considered, it will be rectified. When asked whether any meeting of the Legislature Party has been called, the Congress President said that our observer and in-charge secretary are going. After leaving, we will decide when to meet the governor and when to call a meeting.
In-charge of Gujarat Congress resigns
On the other hand, taking responsibility for the humiliating defeat in Gujarat, Gujarat Congress in-charge Raghu Sharma has resigned from his post. In a letter written to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, he has taken responsibility for the defeat in the state. He has written in the letter that I take responsibility for my defeat in the Gujarat assembly elections and because of this I am resigning from my post in-charge.
