The Red Fort and its adjoining area turned into a cantonment from Sunday night itself. Delhi Police, NSG and Para Military Force took over the security of Red Fort. Police and para-military forces were deployed every step of the way. The Red Fort, including the whole of Delhi, was converted into an impregnable fort. Tight security arrangements have been made from ground to sky. Security is being monitored with 1000 CCTV cameras installed around the Red Fort. Control rooms have been made at many places of these cameras. A large number of policemen are keeping an eye on them 24 hours. Ten thousand policemen have been deployed in the security of Red Fort. The police had taken over the nearby high-rise buildings. The roads around the Red Fort will remain closed from 5 am till the end of the function.
A senior Delhi Police official said that from 12 o’clock on Sunday night, all the borders of Delhi were sealed. The Delhi Police and the police of neighboring states had started joint checking on all the borders. Vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi only after strict checking. Senior police officers themselves had gone out on patrol since midnight. SWAT teams have been prepared at many important places to deal with all kinds of situations. Sharp shooters of Delhi Police were deployed on tall buildings. A thorough checking of vehicles was started on the roads.
