Cocaine worth Rs 18 crore recovered from foreign travelers by DRI at Mumbai airport, two arrested


DRI Seized Drugs: DRI has achieved a major success at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) team has recovered drugs worth Rs 18 crore from foreign passengers at Mumbai airport. Mumbai DRI, acting on a tip-off, arrested two passengers traveling at the International Airport and recovered drugs worth Rs 18 crore from them.

DRI sources said that on December 3, they received information that two passengers were coming to Mumbai from Adidas Ababa traveling by Ethiopian Airlines. After this the DRI team stopped both the passengers at the airport and started searching their bags, found 4 empty bags from them. Out of this two handbags were cut open and 2 plastic pouches were found from inside and a total of 8 plastic pouches were found from the entire luggage.

Cocaine found in plastic pouch

An officer told that there was a powder-like thing in these 8 plastic pouches and when it was checked with the testing kit, it was found to be powdered cocaine. After this both these foreign passengers were arrested. Out of these two foreign passengers, one passenger is 27 years old, who is a resident of Kenya and the other passenger is a female, whose age is 30 years and she is a resident of Guinea.

During interrogation, it was found that the male accused works as a cloud and the female accused deals in women’s clothes. The total weight of the seized drugs is said to be 1794 grams, which is worth Rs 18 crore in the international market. DRI is interrogating the accused to find out to whom in India these people were going to give these drugs.
