Big action by ED on Omkar Group and Sachin Joshi in money laundering case, assets worth Rs 410 crore seized

Mumbai, January 15. In a money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate team on Saturday attached real estate group Omkar Developer and actor-filmmaker Sachin Joshi’s assets worth around Rs 410 crore. This includes flats worth Rs 330 crore. These flats are in Worli area. Let us tell you that the ED has taken this action in the loan fraud case under the PMLA Act.

Regarding this action, ED officials have told that the flats worth about Rs 330 crore were sold in Tower C of the building ie Omkar in 1973 Worli belonging to M/s Omkar Group and a company located in Viram, Pune worth about Rs 80 crore. The land is attached. It is owned by Sachin Joshi. The ED had initiated the money laundering probe on the basis of an FIR lodged in 2020 by City Chowk Police Station, Aurangabad.

Who is Sachin Joshi

Let us tell you that Sachin Joshi has acted in some Telugu and Hindi films. JMJ is the son of group promoter and businessman J M Joshi, who is also into the gutkha and pan masala manufacturing and hospitality business. Sachin Joshi has also produced some films.

Let us tell you that the investigation of this case was going on for the last one year. Investigation has found that Surana Developers Wadala, a subsidiary of Omkar Realtors and Developers Private Limited (ORDPL), fraudulently took a loan of Rs 410 crore through the number of slum dwellers and FSI (Floor Space Index). Out of this, an amount of Rs 380 crore was used by Omkar Group for the sale of flats. At the same time, an amount of 80 crores was used by Sachin Joshi.

Let us tell you that the ED had raided these entities in January last year and filed a chargesheet in March in which Omkar Relators and Developers Chairman Kamal Kishore Gupta (62), its Managing Director Babulal Verma (51) and Sachin Joshi (37) ) and the names of their companies. The ED had arrested all three last year, but the Supreme Court had granted temporary bail to Sachin Joshi for 4 months in September last year itself.
