Design:
The Triumph Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X sport a neo-retro theme with ‘tear drop’ fuel tanks and circular elements such as the LED headlight, LED turn indicators, rear-view mirrors and LED tail lights.

The iconic Triumph design element has been given to further enhance the neo-retro theme. Also, both the models come with premium hardware, which affects the overall stance and looks of both the bikes.
engine:
Triumph Modern Classic range of bikes is powered by 398.15 cc, liquid cooled, 4-valve, DOHC, oversquare engine. This engine provides 39.5 bhp power at 8000 rpm and 37.5 newton meters of torque at 6500 rpm.

Along with this, the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X get a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch. Whereas, power is sent to the rear wheels through an X-ring chain drive.
Frames & Suspension:
The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X use a steel perimeter frame, bolt-on rear subframe. Along with this, twin-sided cast aluminum swingarm has been given in both the bikes.

The Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X are lighter because of this frame. While the Speed 400 weighs 170 kg and the Scrambler 400X has an additional 9 kg. For suspension, both the bikes have 43mm USD Big Piston Forks and gas charged monoshock.
However, the front and rear suspension travel is different in both the bikes. The Triumph Speed 400 comes with 140 mm of suspension travel at the front and 130 mm of travel at the rear, while the Scrambler 400X is 10 mm higher at the front and 20 mm at the rear respectively.

Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X have 230 mm fixed disc and rear floating calipers. Both the bikes get dual-channel ABS with a four-piston caliper at the front. The front has been given a fixed disc of 300 mm and 320 mm respectively.
