Triumph recently introduced the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X globally and now the company has opened bookings for these bikes in India. These bikes were introduced in the UK and will be produced by Bajaj in Pune, Maharashtra.
Both the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X bikes are now live on the company’s website and can be reserved for an advance amount of just Rs 2,000. This bike is the first model of the partnership between Bajaj and Triumph.
Triumph’s 400 models are set to be launched in India on 5 July. We estimate the Triumph Speed 400 to be priced around Rs 3 lakh, while the Triumph Scrambler 400 could be priced slightly higher. Price may be revealed soon.
The 398 cc cylinder engine in these bikes has four valves and dual overhead cam shafts, which helps this free-revving single cylinder to generate 39.5 bhp power and 37.5 newton meter torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels.
In terms of dimensions, the Scrambler 400X gets a wheelbase of 1418mm which is slightly longer than the Speed 400’s 1377mm. Speaking of seat height, the Scrambler 400X has been kept at 835mm and the Speed 400 at 790mm.
Both the new Triumph bikes get model-specific chassis setup, which comes with a new frame, bolt-on rear subframe and cast-aluminium swingarm. The Speed 400 gets 43 mm bigger upside-down front forks.
It gets a mono-shock at the rear and 110/70 (front) and 150/60 (rear) profile wheels shod with 17-inch Metzler Sportec M9RR tyres. For braking, a 300 mm fixed disc at the front and a 230 mm fixed unit at the rear have been given.
The Triumph Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X sport a neo-retro theme with ‘tear drop’ fuel tanks and circular elements such as the LED headlight, LED turn indicators, rear-view mirrors and LED tail lights.
The iconic Triumph design element has been given to further enhance the neo-retro theme. Also, both the models come with premium hardware, which affects the overall stance and looks of both the bikes.
