The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has recalled 87,599 units of its models, including the S-Presso and Eeco models. Maruti Suzuki informed that the steering tie rod of these vehicles will be checked and replaced.

The recalled vehicles by Maruti Suzuki have been manufactured between July 5, 2021 and February 15, 2023. The recall has come into effect from July 24. The company’s dealers are expected to start contacting affected customers soon.

Maruti Suzuki recalls units of S-Presso

The company stated, “It is suspected that a part of the steering tie rod used in these vehicles may be defective, which, in very rare cases, may break and impair vehicle stability and handling.”

Maruti Suzuki further added that, “The affected customers will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki’s official dealer workshop for inspection and replacement of the defective part, free of cost.” Affected customers may also contact the workshop in person.

Maruti Suzuki recalls Eeco units

This is the biggest recall by the company in recent times. In September 2021, Maruti Suzuki recalled 1,81,754 units of petrol trims of various models such as Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and XL6 due to a faulty motor generator unit.

In July 2020, Maruti Suzuki recalled 1,34,885 units of the WagonR and Baleno models to check and fix a faulty fuel pump. Similarly, in December 2019, the company had recalled 63,493 units of the petrol Smart Hybrid models.

Coming to the vehicles affected by Maruti Suzuki’s recall, the S-Presso is the company’s entry-level vehicle that comes with a 1.0-litre petrol engine. It is currently being sold through Maruti Suzuki Arena showrooms.

The Maruti Eeco, on the other hand, is the company’s and India’s cheapest MPV, which is also used for many commercial purposes. The company sells more than 10,000 units of the vehicle per month on an average, which is an impressive figure.

It has been a very busy year for Maruti Suzuki. The company has launched three vehicle models this year – Jimny, Invicto and Franks and all the vehicles are getting good response from the customers. Now it has to be seen how they sell.
