Vehicle emission standards are becoming increasingly stringent around the world. This effect is also being seen in India. Recently, the Government of India has announced that diesel cars will be completely banned from 2027.

With the ban on diesel engines, some of the country’s popular diesel cars will not be available in the country. Currently many of these cars are ruling the hearts of Indian customers. In such a situation, we have brought a list of selected cars which will not be available from 2027.

Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz:
It is the only hatchback currently being sold with a diesel engine. The Altroz is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. With diesel engines being banned from 2027, Tata Motors will not offer the 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Altroz.

Mahindra Bolero:
The SUV is available with a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine. After the diesel engine is banned in 2027, the company can either bring it with a petrol engine or completely discontinue it. It is still selling well.

Mahindra Bolero Neo

Mahindra Bolero Neo:
Like the Mahindra Bolero, the Bolero Neo is available with a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine. However, we expect the model to get the same 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that powers the XUV300.

Tata Harrier/Safari:
Tata Motors is currently developing a new 1.5-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. We expect this new engine to replace the existing 2.0-litre, turbocharged diesel engine on the Harrier and Safari once the diesel engine is banned.

Mahindra Thar

Mahindra Thar/Scorpio N/XUV700:
All these SUVs have been given a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine. With the diesel engine banned, these models could be offered with only the 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine or a hybrid engine.

Toyota Innova Crysta:
The country’s most popular MPV, the Innova Crysta is currently offered with only a 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The company may discontinue this model completely after the diesel engine ban in 2027.

Jeep Compass:
The company can replace the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine of this SUV with a strong hybrid engine in the future. This engine will suit a lot of Jeep Compass customers. This SUV of the company is a premium product.
