Steve Smith has scored a brilliant century in the first innings of the Perth Test against the West Indies. This was the 29th century of his Test career. With this, he equaled Don Bradman’s record of 29 Test centuries.
Smith’s 29th century came in his 155th Test innings. In this way, he is the third batsman after Bradman and Sachin to score the fastest 29 centuries in the shortest innings.
Steve Smith also completed his 4000 runs in the Test match played on the home ground by hitting a century against the West Indies. During this, his batting average has been 64.77.
Smith may not have scored 29 Test centuries in fewer innings than Sachin, but his average in scoring more than 4000 runs in domestic Tests is better than Sachin Tendulkar’s 52.67. Sachin has scored 7216 runs in domestic tests. At the same time, the record of 7578 runs in the domestic test is in the name of Ricky Ponting.
